BiFold Doors

Bifold doors are a great option to consider instead of French doors or sliding doors when a partially open or completely open wall is desired. Bifold doors are now available from Steel Windows and Doors USA with the strength and longevity of a steel product. Unique features of this new line of bi fold doors include the ability to open the first leaf as a regular door, the ability to open the first two leafs as a French door, and the ability to stack the doors in a wall. The rollers used for these doors can handle a load in excess of 800 pounds, thus giving the capability for doors of 16 feet in height. Even greater door height is possible, depending upon overall weight.

This folding door system is thermally broken and thus have great thermal efficiency.

  Bi-fold doors are a great option to consider instead of French doors or sliding doors when a partially open or a wide, completely open, uninterrupted wall is desired. The advantages of bi-fold doors are now available from Steel Windows and Doors USA with the strength and longevity of a steel product with a thermal break. Some features of note for this new line are:
• Individually operable swinging doors can be incorporated, allowing the first leaf to open as a regular door or the first two leafs to open as a French door.
• They are available as a thermally broken product, with the accompanying great insulating value.
• A wide variety of hardware options are available, including multi-point locking systems and the Cremone Bolt, a French inspired, highly decorative, surface mounted lock system.
• These doors are available in a wide range of materials, including galvanized powder coated steel, stainless steel, Cor-Ten steel and bronze.
• A variety of glazing options are available, including argon filled glass and several different glass coatings.
  These doors systems offer a great deal of design flexibility for an architect. The variety of materials, glazing materials, and hardware have already been noted. Also:
• The glazing is installed on-site, so there is great flexibility with regard to glazing and door material combinations.
• The number of panels can be chosen to suit any particular configuration and opening size.
• The bi-fold doors can be designed to meet at a corner without a corner post, providing an unobstructed opening.
