Basic Use:

Swinging, full glazed doors and frames fabricated with thermally broken extruded aluminum sections; Series 680 Thermally Broken Aluminum Terrace Door System s manufactured.

Composition & Materials

Frame:

All principal cold rolled frame members are either

  • ASTM- B221 Aluminum and Aluminum- Alloy Extruded Bars, Rods, Wire, Profiles, and Tubes.
  • Extruded Aluminum: ASTM, B221, 6063-T5 alloy and temper.
  • Fabricated with double tubular aluminum extrusions joined and separated with [5/16 inch] [8mm] minimum thermal barrier. Provide members with center seal gasket.

Glazing:

Doors comply with FGMA- Glazing Manual and CPSC 16 CFR. Snap-in aluminum type glazing.

Weather stripping:

Operating ventilators have factory applied EPDM gaskets around the entire perimeter.

Hardware:

Hinges: [Full mortise, anti-friction ball bearing, hinge, constructed of wrought, forged, or cast steel]

Lockset: [Mortise type with wrought steel case and lever handle.

Closer: [Surface mounted, rack and pinion type with cast hydraulic case and cover]

Finishes:

Standard finish for Series 680 thermally broken aluminum windows and doors is thermo set polyurethane enamel. Standard colors are bronze and White. Custom colors are also available. optional finishes include clear and anodized finishes and electro statically applied powder coating.

Coating thickness:

Primer consists of thermosetting epoxy- ureic paint, at a thickness of 5 microns. A finish coat of polyester powder coating is baked on at 180 to 200 degrees C for 15-20 minutes with an average thickness of 80 microns.

Colors:

Windows are offered in two stock colors Brown and White as a standard. All windows can be painted in a wide range of custom colors to suite project needs, as an option.

Optimum windows meet or exceed air infiltration and water resistance requirements when tested per AAMA 101 and the standards set forth for Aluminum doors Test reports and additional design data are available upon request.

Fire Rating:

This is a Non - Fire rated door constructed with standard Aluminum profiles.

Installation

Preparatory Work:

Handle and store product according to Optimum recommendations. Door openings should conform to details, dimensions and tolerances shown on approved shop drawings.

Conditions which can adversely affect the door installation must be corrected before installation begins.

Methods:

Install door in openings in strict accordance with approved shop drawings. Set door frames level, plumb and square without distortion. Anchor units securely to surrounding construction with approved fasteners. Caulk and flash in accordance with good door installation practice. Exterior joints between door and masonry should be sealed watertight with an approved sealant . Door installer should leave the door surfaces clean after installation.

Precautions:

Design professionals should be knowledgeable of and governed by local, state, national requirements. Installation of door should be done by experienced door installers. Installing contractor should submit for approval shop drawings showing full size door and installation details, including anchorage and fastening and dimensioned elevations showing opening and door sizes.

The warranties do not cover glass breakage, damage to the window assemblies due to vandalism, improper window installation or the labor to replace defective components. Contact the manufacturer for more information on warranty terms, conditions, exclusions, and remedies.

Maintenance:

Adjust operating sash hardware to provide tight fit at contact points and smooth operation and weather tight closure. Clean surfaces promptly after installation of window, and periodically thereafter, exercising care to avoid damage to protective coatings and finishes. Remove excess glazing and sealant compounds, dirt and other substances. Periodic inspection and cleaning of operable components by the owner’s maintenance staff can help ensure maximum effective service life.
